Mukesh Digani

Hailing from a family of businesspeople in Ganaur, Sonipat, Mukesh has dedicated more than 20 years of service to education. Starting as a Physical Education Teacher, he progressed to Vice-Principal in a prominent private school, where he discovered his passion for establishing schools that promote student agency, voice, and ownership. In 2012, motivated by inclusivity, Mukesh founded Umang Pathshala for children from low-income communities, which evolved into Umang – a soon-to-be-launched democratic school, welcoming children from diverse backgrounds.

Umang, once launched, will be a school centred around four themes: democracy, equity, inclusivity and socio-economic diversity. Through a student-centred and experiential approach, students will engage with real-world challenges, applying democratic values in meaningful ways.
